The Department of Higher Education recently awarded The University of Toledo a capital Campus Safety Grant in the amount of $205,330 as part of its new Campus Safety Grant Program.
Jointly administered with the Department of Public Safety, the Campus Safety Grant Program was created to help improve the overall physical security and safety of public campuses statewide.
The funding to the University will be used to enhance first responder radio communication on campus. The additional funding for radio amplifiers and portable radios will help UToledo officers communicate better with each other and also to better connect through the countywide communications system to Toledo’s fire and police departments and Lucas County EMS.
The Campus Safety Grant Program was proposed by Gov. Mike DeWine and supported by the Ohio General Assembly in the latest capital bill.
