All faculty, staff and retirees are encouraged to participate in UToledo Cares 2020, the University’s annual charitable campaign, which runs Monday, Nov. 16, through Friday, Dec. 11.

Contributions to the campaign benefit four important federations: United Way of Greater Toledo, Community Health Charities, EarthShare Ohio and Northwest Ohio Community Shares. Together these four federations represent more than 200 nonprofit organizations throughout the greater Toledo area.

The 2020 campaign co-chairs are Rick Swaine, chief executive officer at The University of Toledo Medical Center, and Dr. Willie McKether, vice president for diversity and inclusion and vice provost.

“With so many of our neighbors, friends and family members affected by the varied negative outcomes associated with the COVID-19 pandemic, our support of UToledo Cares is critically important this year,” McKether said. “This year’s theme of ‘Rockets, United We’re Strong’ speaks to that.”

“UToledo and UTMC are proud to serve this community and this campaign provides us an important opportunity to give back through a local charity and make a difference,” Swaine said. “We appreciate the support of those who are able to make a donation.”

Donations of any size are appreciated. To make your pledge, watch for weekly emails that contain a link to your e-pledge form. Once you submit your completed pledge, you will no longer receive the UToledo Cares campaign emails.

Those who donate by Friday, Dec. 11, will receive a complimentary gift.

All gifts are tax-deductible and a variety of payment options are available, including payroll deduction, which does not begin until early 2021.
