Pie at a picnic is frequently fun.

But one group has a serious reason for making sure a lot of UT faculty members receive pie — on their face — during the annual spring picnic.

The Beta Alpha Psi professional accounting organization will sponsor its second annual Pie-A-Professor event at the UT College of Business and Innovation picnic Wednesday, April 13. The event is a fundraiser to benefit the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Northwest Ohio.

The pies — styrofoam plates of whipped cream — will cost $1 to $3 each. Participants will have their pick of about a dozen UT College of Business and Innovation faculty members, including Dean Thomas Gutteridge.

“Other colleges around the country are doing events such as this, and our board thought Susan G. Komen was a great cause,” said Ben Blaesing, Beta Alpha Psi’s co-fundraising chair.

Pie-A-Professor and the picnic will take place from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. between University Hall, Gillham Hall and Stranahan Hall.
