The University of Toledo Hillel is inviting students, faculty, staff and community members to a Shabbat dinner in honor of the one-year anniversary of Hillel House.
All are welcome to join the celebration, which will take place Friday, Nov. 16, at 6 p.m. at the Hillel House, 2012 Brookdale Drive, Toledo. There will be food, special guests and prizes, including iPod speakers and Starbucks gift certificates.
The Hillel House was purchased last year by the Jewish Federation of Greater Toledo and has served as a home away from home for many Jewish students from UT, Bowling Green State University and the community.
“The Hillel House provides a place of learning and friendship and gives a comfortable setting for college students to express their Jewish identity and explore Judaism,” said Laura Nedorezov, Hillel president.
The Hillel House also provides a location for many of the UT Hillel activities, as well as a place for students to come and do homework and hang out. There is a free Shabbat dinner every Friday, the day of rest in the Jewish faith.
“To be able to have a place for Jewish students to come and express themselves and be who they are is all that I could have wanted for the Jewish student population ever since I was a freshman,” said Maxwell Gold, former Hillel president.
