Toledo has garnered the National Association of Basketball Coaches Team Academic Excellence Award.
The Team Academic Excellence Award recognizes NCAA and NAIA men’s basketball teams that earned a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher throughout the 2013-14 academic year. Of the 131 teams to make the list, only 30 were NCAA Division I-affiliated programs.
The Rockets posted a 3.030 GPA during fall 2013 semester and a 3.053 mark in spring 2014 semester.
UT was the lone Mid-American Conference school to be included in the listing.
On the court during the 2013-14 campaign, Toledo set a school record with 27 victories, captured a share of its eighth MAC regular-season title, appeared in its eighth National Invitation Tournament in program history, and posted its first unbeaten home record (fourth in school history) since the 1966-67 season.
Other NCAA Division I schools posting a 3.0 GPA in the 2013-14 academic year were Albany, Belmont, Bradley, Bucknell, the Citadel, Dartmouth, Eastern Washington, Elon, Florida, Gonzaga, Iowa State, Kentucky, Lehigh, Louisiana-Monroe, Mercer, Nebraska-Omaha, North Dakota State, Northern Iowa, Oklahoma, Quinnipiac, Rice, Seattle Pacific, South Carolina, South Dakota State, Stanford, Texas, Utah Valley, Yale and Youngstown State.
