Dr. Matt Yockey, UT assistant professor of film, will be at Vault of Midnight Bookstore in Ann Arbor Friday, Jan. 30, to talk about his new book Batman, published by Wayne State University Press.

The book signing and discussion will be held at 6:30 p.m. Copies of the book will be available for purchase. Vault of Midnight bookstore is located at 219 S. Main St., Ann Arbor.
Yockey joined The University of Toledo as an assistant professor of in 2010. He teaches courses on film theory, national cinema, auteur films (such as Hitchcock and Kubrick), screenwriting, and film genres.
Yockey’s research focus is on Hollywood genres, especially superheroes, and fan studies. His essays on these topics have appeared in several publications, including The Iowa Journal of Cultural Studies, The Velvet Light Trap, CineAction, Transformative Works and Cultures, Journal of Fandom Studies, and Studies in Comics, as well as the anthologies Critical Approaches to the Films of M. Night Shyamalan (Palgrave Macmillan, 2010) and Superhero Synergies: Comic Book Characters Go Digital (Rowman & Littlefield, 2014).
His monograph on the “Batman” television series of the 1960s was published by Wayne State University Press in 2014.
Yockey earned a combined PhD in communication and culture and American studies from Indiana University in 2007.
