A few minor changes to the Centennial Mall construction project’s phases and schedule have been made due to delay shortages in material supplies and other factors. The changes will not affect the project’s completion date of mid-August.
As a result of the changes, the four-phase construction project has been adjusted to six phases.
Phases 1-A, 2-A and 3 are currently under construction and include replacing deteriorated sidewalks to improve safety and planting beds at Memorial Field House to soften the building’s entrances and to provide more pleasant views both inside and outside of the building.
Phase 1-B and 2-B are scheduled to be completed by Thursday, July 8, and will include altering some concrete pathways to help students, faculty and staff navigate Main Campus. And Phase 4, the roadway, is scheduled for Friday, July 9, through Friday, August 13.
Additional seating and congregating space will be added to Brunner Garden on the south side of University Hall, as frequently requested by students, and improvements will be made to the stormwater management and water drainage on campus.
“We appreciate everyone’s patience as we work to complete this project on schedule and in time for the fall semester,” said Doug Collins, manager of facilities and construction. “The enhancements to Centennial Mall will be a source of pride for The University of Toledo campus community for years to come.”
