Researchers at The University of Toledo who are advancing new therapies for brain diseases will give a tour of their laboratories to members of the state of Ohio’s Task Force on Alzheimer’s Diseases and Related Dementias this week on Health Science Campus.
The group, which includes Ohio Department of Aging Director Ursel J. McElroy, will move to Main Campus for a public listening session from 2 to 4 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 9, in the Brady Engineering Innovation Center to gather input from individuals living with Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias, along with their caregivers.
Families are invited to share their stories to help shape future policy and programs in the state. Professionals who work in aging services, healthcare or related fields and members of the public also are invited to provide input about services and support for people with dementia.
“The University is pleased to host events that relate to our research and clinical enterprise in providing support to our community through the expertise of our faculty members and students,” said Dr. Frank Calzonetti, UToledo vice president of research. “The University has received millions of dollars in external funding to address these diseases from a number of foundations and agencies, including funding supported by the National Institutes of Health, which is the gold standard in funding exceptional research.”
