UToledo Online Hosts Recognition Honoring 25 Years of Online Learning Achievements

UToledo Online recently hosted a faculty recognition event in Thompson Student Union Room 2582 to celebrate their 25 years of online learning achievements and recognize the extraordinary achievements of the online faculty of The University of Toledo.

The event honored faculty and staff who completed courses in the Pathway Program, with 24 people awarded as Master Online Instructors. UToledo Online offers faculty development courses each semester to prepare instructors to design and teach inclusive and engaging online courses. The Pathway Program includes five courses to help faculty members master the best skills and knowledge of online teaching. So far, UToledo Online has had more than 1,000 course completions in the Pathway Program.

The event also recognized faculty members whose online courses received official Quality Matters (QM) certification. UToledo has more than 137 courses that have received official QM certification, ranking seventh nationally. UToledo Online received the 2022 Quality Matters “Making a Difference for Students: Outstanding Impact by a U.S. Higher Education Organization” award for its significant contribution to quality online education.

UToledo President Gregory Postel, Provost Dr. Risa Dickson, college deans, faculty member awardees, UToledo Online’s instructional designer team and other guests attended the event.

In his speech, Postel spoke highly of UToledo Online’s accomplishments, shared his vision of online learning at UToledo and showed his appreciation for faculty members’ commitment to online teaching.

UToledo Online’s accomplishments also include winning the 2022 Blackboard Catalyst Award in the Training and Professional Development category. The award recognizes organizations for their innovative approaches to professional development, training, and support programs.
