Students, Faculty Honored at Office of Competitive Fellowships Awards Reception

The Office of Competitive Fellowships recently hosted an Awards Reception and Breakfast honoring faculty and students who were either recently nominated for or have received nationally competitive scholarships and fellowships.

The Awards Reception and Breakfast was attended by UToledo President Gregory Postel and faculty from supporting colleges and departments.

Students:

•  Olivia Onago, environmental science student, Udall Campus Nominee;

•  Owen Schassberger, environmental studies (pre-law) student, Udall Campus Nominee;

•  Carolyn McEvoy, environmental engineering student, Udall Campus Nominee;

•  Sangeetha Pillai, biology (pre-med) student, Goldwater Campus Nominee;

•  Noah Dusseau, pharmacology/toxicology student, Goldwater Campus Nominee;

•  Evan Roebke, bioengineering student, Goldwater Campus Nominee;

•  Derek Kluczynski, biology student, Goldwater Scholar;

•  Tara Smith, English and art history student, Gilman Scholarship Recipient;

•  Anastasia Butler-Rogers, marketing student, Gilman Scholarship Recipient; and

•  Torrence Smith, university studies student, Critical Language Scholarship Alternate.

Faculty:

•  Dr. Dong-Shik Kim, professor of chemical and environmental engineering in the College of Engineering, Fulbright Scholar, Turkey; and

•  Dr. Iryna Pentina, a professor of marketing and international business in the John B. and Lillian E. Neff College of Business and Innovation, Fulbright Specialist, France.

The Office of Competitive Fellowships advises UToledo students on national scholarship and fellowship applications. Ultimately, the goal of the Office of Competitive Fellowships is for each student to learn and grow through the fellowship application process.
