Rain showers and high humidity weren’t enough to dampen Kaitlyn Sullivan’s smile Thursday morning during move-in day. The freshman from Livonia, Mich., was joining our Rocket Family.
Along with hundreds of new and returning UToledo students for the 2023-24 academic year, Sullivan was getting assistance with her move into Parks Tower from volunteers, including University of Toledo President Gregory Postel who joined students and their families to help unpack vehicles.

“I’m very excited,” said Sullivan, who decided to major in communications after visiting campus and seeing firsthand the department’s facilities and equipment.
“I knew that this is where I need to go and what I have to do,” she said. “After that, all the puzzle pieces fell into place. It was perfect.”
Sullivan’s mother, Heather, echoed her daughter’s enthusiasm.
“It’s a sad day because I don’t want her to leave, but I want her to enjoy the whole college life experience,” she said. “The University of Toledo is where she needs to be, and this is what she needs to do.”
Throughout the day, cars with new and returning students lined up outside UToledo’s residence halls as volunteers quickly unpacked vehicles and helped them make campus their new home.
“It is a joy every fall seeing our campus come alive,” President Postel said. “We are excited to have our returning students back for another academic year and to have the opportunity to welcome a new class of Rockets to The University of Toledo. I can’t wait to see what they will accomplish this year.”
