Want to travel abroad, but don’t have the time or money? Then stop by the International Student Association’s International Village for lunch Friday, Oct. 8, in the Student Union Auditorium.
The 19th annual International Village will take place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and is an opportunity to sample foods from around the world and learn about other cultures. Organizers say the event is a way for all students to come together and get to know each other.
“We learn a lot in the classroom, but this is a chance to connect on a social level and learn what a culture is really about,” said Matt Sauter, vice president of the International Student Association, which is sponsoring the event.
A dozen cultural student organizations have been invited to participate and present food and clothing that represent their countries. Not only will the day include food, but students also can purchase international souvenirs. And what party would be complete without dancing?
“Last year I attended as a student, and I remember the fun I had learning ethnic dances with other students. It was a great way of introducing another culture because everyone likes to dance,” Sauter said.
Admission to International Village is free; there will be a nominal charge for the purchase of food.
