University of Toledo student-athletes earned a record grade point average of 3.423 in the 2023 fall semester, Vice President and Director of Athletics Bryan B. Blair announced.

It is the highest GPA for a fall semester, and trails only last spring’s mark of 3.472. Rocket student-athletes have recorded a GPA of 3.4 or higher in each of the past three semesters and have earned a semester GPA of 3.3 or higher in 10 consecutive semesters.

All teams achieved a 3.1 GPA of higher.

Women’s Tennis and Women’s Basketball set records for the highest GPAs in their program’s history.

“I am so proud of our student-athletes for their tremendous work in the classroom,” Blair said. “To have every team earn at least a 3.1 grade point average, and to have two teams, women’s tennis and women’s basketball, set the all-time GPA record in the same semester, says a lot about our commitment to academics.

“At the core of our mission is to graduate champions who will change the world. At our fall commencement ceremony last month, 38 student-athletes walked across the stage and officially became graduates of The University of Toledo. I can’t wait to see what this class of graduates will accomplish in the future.”

“I am very proud of the determination our student-athletes continue to show for their academics,” added Senior Associate Athletic Director for Student-Athlete Experience Tony Belt. “This is the seventh semester in a row they have set a new semester GPA record. A big thanks to all faculty, staff and coaches that play a pivotal role in their academic success.”
