Nominations for the 2024 class of the Varsity T Hall of Fame are being accepted now and are due Friday, April 19.
The Hall of Fame Banquet will be held on a date to be determined in the fall, with the 2024 class being presented at halftime of a Toledo football game.
Nominations may come from any source. Nominations from previous years automatically carry over to the next year.
Student-athletes whose final year of participation occurred at least 10 years prior to June 30, 2024, are eligible for nomination. Previously, the waiting period for student-athletes was five years. For coaches and administrators, the waiting period for nominations remains at five years after their last date of participation in their role.
“After much consideration and discussion, the Varsity T Board approved the change of the waiting period from five to 10 years for the nomination of former student-athletes,” said Varsity T President Brent Reed. “We looked at other schools, many of which had waiting periods of between 10 and 15 years for induction into their hall of fame. We also considered the importance of the perspective of time, as well as the opportunity for those playing professionally to be able to attend their induction ceremony. In the past, we’ve had numerous inductees who were unable to attend the induction ceremony due to their professional athletic commitments. We felt by moving the process out by five years, this would help alleviate some of those conflicts.”
Nominations for the 2024 class may be submitted online, by email or by U.S. mail. Supporting documents by be emailed or mailed.
