Students interested in representing the student body on The University of Toledo Board of Trustees are encouraged to apply to be a student trustee by the noon Friday, March 1, deadline.

Student trustees will serve a two-year term, attend all board meetings, including corresponding committee meetings to which they are appointed, and report information to the Student Government at regular meetings.

“This is a wonderful opportunity for a student leader to have a voice at the table where decisions are made that impact the University,” said Dr. Sammy Spann, vice president of student affairs and dean of students.

 The requirements to apply to serve as a student trustee are:

•  A cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or above at the time of application;

•  Ability to fulfill the two-year term commitment with UToledo student status;

•  Enrolled as a full-time student when nominated or appointed;

•  Enrolled for three semesters on a full-time basis at the University prior to nomination and appointment;

•  May not be under conduct probation or other disciplinary action; and

•  Must be a registered Ohio voter.

 To apply, a student needs to complete the application available online on the Board of Trustees website. The application form includes a place for students to provide information on their time at UToledo, including any volunteer work, internships or activities.

Applications are being accepted for one of two student trustee positions and must be submitted to the Office of Student Involvement and Leadership (OSIL) located in Thompson Student Union Room 1532, by the noon Friday, March 1, deadline.

The new trustee will replace Madeline Vining, who completes her term in June. The new trustee will join Kevin Bishop, to represent the student body’s perspective and opinion on the board.
