The Womxn of Color Symposium is sponsored by ODEI, Eberly Center for Women, and Jones Leadership Academy. The planning committee consists of members from many areas of campus, including the Division of Student Affairs, the College of Arts and Letters and Enrollment Management.

Friday’s event will include presentations by UToledo faculty, staff and students and community leaders, with breakout sessions in Thompson Student Union Rooms 2582, 2584, 2591, 2592 and 2574.

This year’s theme, “Serenity in Success: Standing in Your Full Being,” is all about recommitting to the practices, strategies and lifestyles choices that make you feel fulfilled, safe, healthy, thriving and, most importantly, like the best version of you (from wellness to finances).

The symposium’s keynote speaker is Tenora Mia Edwards, a successful female powerhouse with 25 years of experience in building and expanding profitable businesses. She is the founder and CEO of multiple ventures, including The Pink Party Retreat and Tenora Mía Consulting, making her a frontrunner in the world of team professional development training. She also has built a community of multicultural entrepreneurs who care about making a positive impact on their communities.

The theme of Edwards’ keynote speech is “Sisterhood Circle: Cultivating Meaningful Connections with Womxn in Your Community.”

“We are inviting participants on a journey of rediscovery and reaffirmation. This symposium will serve as a sanctuary, where we can collectively explore pathways to wellness, ensuring that we emerge not only as survivors but as thrivers,” said Malaika Bell, director of the Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.

The Womxn of Color Symposium will include a healthy lunch, connection and validation for all in attendance. The event is free but registration at the Womxn of Color Symposium webpage and a parking pass through ParkUToledo are required.
