The University of Toledo Foundation recognizes all UToledo supporters who made the seventh-annual Rocket Forward Day of Giving campaign a success. The 36-hour crowdfunding effort generated $1,713,122 in donations from 2,460 donors through online donations and live event participation.
Over the years, the UToledo Foundation bolstered its Day of Giving advocate program, where passionate Rockets volunteer to promote participation within their own networks and on their own individual social media channels. Advocates are crucial to the overall success of the campaign, as they spread the word to those who may not be following University communication channels.
This year, advocates generated more than 26% of all gifts, totaling more than $530,000, using their unique donation links.
In deciding how their gifts would be designated, donors were able to choose from more than 2,000 funds available at the UToledo Foundation, supporting scholarships, athletic and educational programs, research, healthcare and community services.
Building on recent tradition, local businesses lent their support to Day of Giving by donating a percent of sales or offering opportunities for patrons to round-up their purchase. Participating businesses included Balance Pan-Asian Grille, The Blarney Irish Pub, Bubba’s 33, Buff City Soap, Calvino’s, Crumbl Cookies, Home Slice Pizza, Inside the Five Brewing Co., Jake’s Saloon, Table 44, Four Seasons Bistro at The University of Toledo Medical Center and Ye Olde Dirty Bird.
“As The University of Toledo positions itself for the future, Rockets continue to share their dedication and unwavering support for our University,” said Floyd Akins Jr., vice president for university advancement.
“We are so grateful and thank all our generous donors who make an impact on the lives of our students, faculty, staff, researchers, athletes and healthcare providers,” Akins continued. “Again, on behalf of our campus community, we sincerely thank you.”
