UToledo is partnering with the American Heart Association to celebrate National Walking Day by hosting several fitness activities on campus Wednesday, April 3.
“Moving more – and walking in particular – has always been part of the American Heart Association’s now century-long mission,” said Vicki Riddick, director, University Wellness Services. “That’s why the AHA created National Walking Day more than a decade ago. A simple walk can kick-start healthy habits, leading to a longer, healthier life.”
“Even moderate exercise will help you to manage stress, and benefit your heart, body and mind to boot,” Riddick added.
The University’s National Walking Day activities:
• From noon to 12:30 p.m., Walk for Wellness: Join UTMC leadership team for a short walk around the track in the Morse Fitness Center on Health Science Campus;
• From 1 to 2 p.m., Move More, Stress Less at Thompson Student Union and Centennial Mall. Enjoy lawn games, chair yoga and other fun movement break activities;
• 2 p.m., Walk with the Provost. Join our provost for a short walk around Centennial Mall; and
• 2:30 p.m., Zumba Demonstration, at Thompson Student Union and Centennial Mall.
