Incoming UToledo freshmen for the 2024-25 academic year are celebrated Friday afternoon as they enter Savage Arena to applause, cheers and cowbells by campus leaders, faculty and staff as part of Rocky’s Welcome, the annual new student convocation ceremony. The fall semester begins today with the start of classes and a slate of Welcome Weeks events now through Monday, Oct. 7.
Rocket Welcome Weekend kicked off Thursday evening with a bonfire at the Flatlands that included music, yard games and s’mores.
On Friday, Rocket Welcome Weekend events included the class of 2028 barbecue lunch at the Flatlands.
Later on Friday afternoon, the Class of 2028 posed for a photo on the field of Glass Bowl Stadium.
Following the class photo was the annual convocation at Savage Arena that included an energetic introduction for first-year freshmen, transfer and adult students to campus leaders and what it means to be a Rocket.
On Friday evening, all UToledo students enjoyed the CAP Carnival at Carter Field featuring games, rides and food.
And on Sunday, members of the Divine Nine posed and displayed their fraternity and sorority hand signs before their annual Jam Session event.
