Both students are involved with the campus radio station, 88.3 FM WXUT.
Floyd, who is credited as the program’s producer, writer, researcher and editor, described the show as “an inside look at the music he plays on his show STAFF MEETING. This episode covers the weird, yet wonderful world of Outsider music and the many unique stories of the artists within this quirky genre that is full of self-expression.”
“It was a great honor to receive a Touchstone Award from the Toledo Press Club for Student Radio/Podcast,” Floyd said. “It was a pretty emotional moment hearing my name and for the show to be recognized in front of many of Toledo media’s finest. It also meant a lot to see the content we produce for WXUT be recognized as ‘award-winning’ with the growth our station has taken since 2022.”
Kridelbaugh hosts “Flying with the Ace,” a program nominated for an Intercollegiate Broadcast System Media Award for Best Radio Promo. Kridelbaugh also is involved with the student-run newscast UT10.
“It was an incredible opportunity to have won the Kurt G. Franck Scholarship through the Press Club of Toledo,” Kridelbaugh said. “It was such a phenomenal experience to get to network with fellow journalists in the area who do such great work promoting this city and its stories. The scholarship meant a lot to me, but it just goes to show that great things come out of the Department of Communication and Media at UT and will help me establish myself moving forward.”
