Beginning Tuesday, Jan. 12, and continuing throughout the month of January, The University of Toledo will offer students, faculty and staff the opportunity to register for a free, rapid COVID-19 test as part of the University’s ongoing surveillance testing program.
The antigen-based tests, performed in partnership with The University of Toledo Medical Center and collected via a shallow nasal swab, will provide results in approximately 30 minutes. Anyone who tests positive will receive an additional polymerase chain reaction (PCR) through UTMC test to confirm the rapid test result.
Tests, which are in limited supply, are available for asymptomatic individuals who are working or studying on campus. Individuals can register by completing the webform.
The University will resume its random, asymptomatic surveillance testing program in February. Individuals selected for random COVID-19 testing will receive notification through their UToledo email address and be asked to choose an appointment time.
Participation in the University’s random surveillance testing during the spring semester will be required for residential students and highly encouraged for everyone else who is studying or working on campus.
All residential students also will be provided a rapid antigen test when they arrive on campus for their scheduled move-in time. A negative test is required prior to students moving into their assigned residence hall for spring semester.
The University will continue to provide weekly updates on the number of positive COVID-19 cases among faculty, staff and students through the COVID-19 dashboard, which is available on the coronavirus website.
COVID-19 testing remains available for all symptomatic faculty, staff and students through UTMC on Health Science Campus and Main Campus. Call 419.383.4545 for an appointment.
