The University of Toledo announced an updated policy related to health and safety at its on-campus athletic events. The new policy, which will take place immediately, restricts food sales and consumption at all athletic events. Bottled water and soft drinks will continue to be available for sale at concession stands.

This is similar to policies already in effect at other public universities in the state of Ohio. The University will continue to monitor and evaluate the new policy and communicate any changes moving forward.

Beginning immediately, concession food sales will not be available at all UToledo athletic events. The Joe Grogan Room will also be closed. Fans will not be permitted to bring food or beverages into athletic facilities. The new policy will begin with the women’s basketball game vs. Central Michigan at Savage Arena on Wednesday, Jan. 12.

As part of ongoing safety protocols to help prevent the spread of COVID-19, the University will continue to enforce the mandatory wearing of masks indoors, regardless of vaccination status, for all faculty, staff, students and visitors to campus. Patrons at UToledo indoor athletic events must wear a mask at all times for their own safety as well as the safety of others.

The University also strongly encourages all individuals to get vaccinated, including a booster shot, and to continue using health and safety protocols, including regular hand-washing and maintaining a safe distance from others whenever possible.
