The University of Toledo is a key collaborator in a multiagency initiative to re-establish endangered lake sturgeon in the Maumee River and western Lake Erie. Dr. William Hintz, a freshwater ecologist, leads research into the survival and behavior of hatchery-raised fingerlings released each year. Hintz is overseeing a student releasing a lake sturgeon fingerling into the lake.
