Today’s throwback is to 1970 and The University of Toledo’s “Technical Media Center” — later renamed the Audio-Visual Services Department — that served as a unit of University Libraries, offering students access to audio and video equipment and, by the 1980s, computers and other nascent technologies. The Audio-Visual Services Department, which also provided assistance programs including Classroom Services, Media Library and Audio-Video Repairs, was abolished in 1999.
