The University of Toledo finished No. 68 out of 363 schools in the Learfield Directors’ Cup Division I fall standings recently released by the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA). Points for the standings are awarded based on each institution’s finish in NCAA Championships.

The Rockets’ 91 points were the most of any Mid-American school and rank ahead of 21 Power 5 schools, including five each from the Big Ten, Big 12 and SEC, and three each from the Pac-12 and ACC. It is the second-highest finish for Toledo in the Learfield Directors’ Cup fall standings, trailing only a 60th-place finish in 2011. It is also only the second time the Rockets have led the MAC in the fall standings (2014).

“All of Team Toledo should be proud of what our student-athletes accomplished this past fall,” said Vice President and Director of Athletics Bryan B. Blair. “We won MAC titles in football and women’s cross country, among many other sport accomplishments, and set a new department GPA record with 77% of our student-athletes achieving a 3.0 or higher. Finishing as the No. 1 school in the MAC and ahead of 21 Power 5 programs in the Learfield Directors’ Cup fall standings positions us among the top 20% of all NCAA Division I institutions. This is truly a great time to be a Rocket.”

Toledo earned 46 points in women’s cross country and 45 points in football. Women’s cross country won the MAC Championship and finished in 28th place at the NCAA Championship Meet. Football also won the MAC Championship title and defeated Liberty in the Roofclaim.com Boca Raton Bowl.
