As artificial intelligence continues to reshape how information is created, accessed and evaluated, educators face new challenges — and opportunities — in helping students develop strong information literacy skills. To support this work, The University of Toledo will host Artificial Intelligence and Information Literacy Assessment Day 2026, titled “Guiding Students Through the Noise,” from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 22, in Carlson Library 1005.

Hosted by the University Assessment and Program Review Committee, University Libraries and the Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning, the seminar will bring together faculty, students, librarians and academic staff for a morning of discussion and practical exploration focused on information literacy and our new AI-driven learning environment.

The program will explore what information literacy looks like in today’s classrooms, how it can be effectively assessed and how artificial intelligence intersects with teaching, learning and academic integrity. Sessions will feature campus experts sharing strategies, assessment approaches and examples that participants can apply across disciplines. The event will conclude with optional library tours of the newly renovated facility.

Registration is required at the event’s website. Assessment Day is open to faculty, students and staff interested in student learning, curriculum design, assessment practices and the responsible integration of AI tools.
