The annual Health Science Campus Artist Showcase returns with its 18th show, featuring 27 artists and more than 50 works ranging from painting to photography to mixed media.

Located on the fourth floor of the Mulford Health Science Library, the HSC Artist Showcase will run Monday, Feb. 20, through Monday, April 10.

An artist reception and lecture will be held on Friday, March 3, from 4 to 6 p.m., also on the fourth floor of Mulford.

Dr. Mysoon Rizk, a professor of art history in the UToledo Department of Art, will deliver a lecture entitled “A Brief Consideration of Art’s Healing Powers.” In this survey across art history, Rizk will explore examples of art designed to play a role in healing – especially spiritual healing – including works made more than 500 years ago to much more recent examples.

“Dr. Rizk’s lecture will provide a wonderful complement to the creative talents of the artists featured in the showcase, who are all students or practitioners of the healing professions,” said Jodi Jameson, chair of the artist showcase.

The HSC Artist Showcase provides faculty, staff and students involved in the health sciences at The University of Toledo a place to exhibit their talents outside of their academic pursuits.

The showcase also will be available virtually for those unable to view it in person.
