The annual Health Science Campus Artist Showcase opens Monday, Feb. 19, at the Mulford Library Building. This year’s show features 24 artists and more than 50 works ranging from photography to painting to papercraft.

The HSC Artist Showcase is an opportunity for faculty, staff, and students involved in the health sciences at The University of Toledo to exhibit their talents outside of their academic pursuits.

“For nearly 20 years, the Mulford Library has displayed works of art from students and employees in all areas of the health sciences,” said Jodi Jameson, chair of the artist showcase. “We are honored to provide a welcoming space for our campus community to share their creative side and celebrate the link between art, science and medicine.”

The HSC Artist Showcase will run from Monday, Feb. 19, through Friday, April 1, and is located on the fourth floor of the Mulford Library Building.

There will be an artist reception on Friday, Feb. 23, from 5 to 7 p.m. featuring a lecture by Dr. Rafael Garcia-Mata, associate professor and Harold C. and Charlotte L. Shaffer Chair in Biological Sciences.

Garcia-Mata is organizer of Toledo CellulART, a meeting that brings together the art and scientific communities of Northwestern Ohio, Southern Michigan, and Northeastern Indiana to appreciate the link between art and science while also promoting collaboration, interaction, and discussion between researchers working with the cytoskeleton.
