The second episode of The University of Toledo’s new podcast, “Powering UToledo,” is available and focuses on UToledo’s appeal for prospective students as a top-tier research university.
Hosts UToledo Interim President Matt Schroeder and award-winning TV and media host Kristi K. Hoffman discuss UToledo’s recent R1 designation by the Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education. The recognition for very high research activity puts UToledo among the nation’s top 187 research universities in the country and it is the only one in the region.
“Research is in our DNA,” Schroeder said. “Whether you’re an undergrad student or a grad student, opportunities to participate in research at the bench, in the field and on the water, that really differentiates us from most.”
The podcast hosts are joined by UToledo Vice President for Strategic Enrollment Management Tony Bourne to discuss UToledo’s appeal to students interested in research as well as everything else UToledo has to offer. The conversation explores UToledo’s popular programs, value proposition, alumni support, community engagement and the student experience — including extracurricular opportunities and lifelong learning programs.
The “Powering UToledo” podcast highlights the University’s significant contributions in research, education and healthcare and provides an inside look into the institution’s innovation projects and future priorities.
