Join The University of Toledo Filipino-American Association next weekend for workshops on cultural and professional development.
The UT Filipino-American Association was chosen this year to host the Midwest Filipino-American Summit. The free, public event, which is held every year throughout the region, features a variety of workshops ranging from professional development to working out with a mixed-martial arts fighter.
The summit will begin Friday, March 14, at 8 p.m. with a formal at the Ramada Hotel, 3536 Secor Road in Toledo. It will end with closing ceremonies Sunday, March 16, from noon to 1 p.m. in the Student Union.
Most of the summit will take place Saturday, March 15, from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. in the Student Union and Memorial Field House. This will be when the workshops are held, along with a $5 variety show featuring entertainment from Filipino student organizations and Apollo Riego, the magician.
Proceeds from the variety show will go toward the Midwest Association of Filipino-Americans’ philanthropy project to raise money for Advancement of Rural Kids, which is working to aid the victims of Typhoon Haiyan.
Register for the summit by Friday, March 7, and read more about the workshops here.
