The College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics is hosting a free, eight-week spring program focused on data science for area high school students in grades nine through 12.

MathCorps Super Saturdays: Data runs Saturdays from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. each Saturday through May 4, in Memorial Field House Room 1920 on Main Campus.

Registration for the camp has been extended through Friday, March 8.

“We are teaching what ‘data’ is, how to collect data, how to clean data and what tools to use for that,” said Dr. Funda Gültepe, an assistant professor of mathematics, who is director of the spring program along with the program’s co-director, Dr. Samia Tasnim, an assistant professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science.

The Saturday sessions are open to all high school students with the aim to provide initial knowledge about Data Science with some applications. Breakfast and lunch are included.

For more information and to register by the Friday, March 8, deadline, email mathcorps@utoledo.edu or visit the UToledo MathCorps website.
