Kirchner is a composer, arranger and songwriter based in Los Angeles. His works blend classical choral and instrumental traditions with the inheritance of the folk, carol and hymn traditions, with commissions including numerous premieres with the Los Angeles Master Chorale at Los Angeles’ Walt Disney Concert Hall.

On Saturday he will work with high school vocalists to prepare four of his own pieces to perform in Doermann Theatre, including the jazzy “Hummingbird” and the bluegrass-inspired “I’ll Be On My Way.”

“We are so excited to have such talented high school musicians from across northwest Ohio visit our campus to work with such a renowned choral composer,” said Dr. Micah Bland, director of choral activities at UToledo. “It will be a positive and memorable experience for all.”
