Four members of the Toledo women’s basketball team were named Academic All-District by College Sports Communicators (CSC), the organization announced Tuesday.
Junior Jessica Cook, senior Nan Garcia, senior Sammi Mikonowicz and fifth-year senior Sophia Wiard were all named Academic All-District for the second time in their careers.
The 2023-24 Academic All-District Men’s and Women’s Basketball Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America program separately recognizes basketball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA — for each gender.
Academic All-District honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America honorees will be announced on Tuesday, April 16.
On Thursday, No. 2 seed Toledo will play at No. 1 seed Washington State in quarterfinal action of the Women’s Basketball Invitation Tournament (WBIT). The game will be broadcast on ESPN+ at 9 p.m. EST.
