In celebration of Financial Literacy Month, The University of Toledo’s financial wellness counselor, Mollee Williamson, is promoting financial literacy awareness to local high school students and Toledo-area organizations.

Through presentations and interactive workshops, Williamson is helping to shed light on the often-overlooked expenses of higher education and to equip high school students with resources available to navigate these financial hurdles.

UToledo’s financial wellness counselor, Mollee Williamson, promotes financial literacy awareness to local high school students.

Williamson also is available to offer personalized guidance to UToledo students and their families who are seeking assistance with college expenses and have personal financial inquiries. Through individual and group sessions, she will provide tailored support and connect students with local resources relevant to their financial needs. These sessions provide valuable opportunities for students to gain clarity on their financial situation and to develop effective financial plans.

“The opportunity to educate the community on the cost of attending college and the resources available to assist in covering college expenses have been inspiring,” Williamson said. “Seeing the changes in Ohio high schools’ financial literacy requirements put to action is just one step towards greater financial literacy.

“It’s crucial for students to understand the financial implications of their decisions, especially regarding higher education, and proactively having access to the resources and education well before high school graduation can make a significant difference in their future financial well-being.”

Williamson is a two-time graduate of UToledo: She received her bachelor’s degree in business administration in electronic commerce and management in 2020 and her master of business administration degree in 2022.
