A new practice at The University of Toledo allows faculty researchers to carry forward indirect cost recovery funds.

The carry forward funding is only for revenue generated from facility and administration cost recovery associated with sponsored programs. Other funding resources are not permitted for the carry forward.

“It is because of our faculty efforts that we are able to celebrate UToledo’s place among the country’s top-tier research institutions with the prestigious Carnegie R1 Classification,” Interim President Matt Schroeder said. “Our goal is to support you and stimulate research, scholarship and new proposal submissions, as well as provide opportunities to maintain or improve our research equipment, facilities or infrastructure.”

Indirect Cost Recovery (IDCR) H-index balances over $100,000 in a department should be justified and approved by the college dean and provost during each budget cycle. Balances over $400,000 for a college should be justified and approved by the dean and provost, as well as the vice presidents for research and finance and administration.

Schroeder thanked leadership in Division of Academic Affairs and the Office of Research and Sponsored Programs for creating the new carry forward procedures to support faculty research.

The new process is effective immediately, fiscal year 2025. Contact RSP.Admin@utoledo.edu with any questions.
