Story updated July 28 — Given the new roles assumed by UT leaders following changes among the senior administration, the presidential search advisory process is adapting as well.
Lawrence J. Burns, vice president for external affairs, will assume sole leadership of the search advisory process following John Barrett’s appointment as interim provost.
In this role, Burns will continue to lead the coordination of several open forums in late August and early September across UT to seek input from the University community about the traits and characteristics sought in the next University of Toledo president.
“The Board of Trustees feels strongly that getting maximum input from the campus community is essential to finding the best person to lead this institution,” Burns said. “We have a great partner in search firm Witt/Kieffer, and they will use the feedback they get from conversations at UT as they are meeting with and recruiting candidates around the nation.”
Burns said word-for-word transcriptions of the open forums would be provided to trustees to ensure they had unfiltered access to the input shared.
