Freshman guard Julius Brown has been honored for his play during the 2011-12 campaign by being named to the CollegeInsider.com Mid-Major Freshman All-America team.

The 2011-12 Mid-American Conference Freshman of the Year, Brown started all of the Rockets’ 36 games at point guard and topped all first-year players with 11.9 points, 4.9 assists and a 1.6 assist/turnover ratio. In the overall rankings, Brown finished fourth in assists, sixth in assist/turnover ratio and 16th in scoring. He also was sixth nationally among freshmen in helpers.

Brown also dished out a season-high 11 assists vs. McNeese State March 13 in the first round of the CollegeInsider.com Postseason Tournament and collected seven or more assists in 14 occasions this season.
