Ingersoll, Linn named to Academic All-MAC Team

Seniors Courtney Ingersoll and Haylie Linn have been named to the 2012 Academic All-Mid-American Conference Team.

Toledo was one of three schools to have two student-athletes named to the squad, along with Akron and Bowling Green.

Ingersoll

Ingersoll, a communications major with a 3.462 GPA, led the NCAA in three-point field-goal percentage (44.2 percent, 96 of 217) and ranked 13th in three-point field goals made (2.8). Her 96 three-point field goals tied for the most in the MAC and school history in a single season with former Rocket great Kelly Savage (1988-89).

For the year, Ingersoll averaged 11.9 points, 4.3 rebounds, 1.7 assists and 1.7 steals in a squad-best 35.0 minutes per game. She led the MAC in three-point field goals made, as well as ranking second in three-point field-goal percentage, fifth in minutes played, 12th in overall field-goal percentage (45.6 percent, 134 of 294) and 13th in scoring, en route to earning third-team all-league accolades.

The Massillon, Ohio, native scored in double figures 20 times in 2011-12, pouring in at least 20 points on a team-high five occasions.

Ingersoll wrapped up her collegiate career first in UT annals in games played (133), sixth in three-point field goals made (176), seventh in three-point field-goal percentage (36.6 percent, 176 of 481) and minutes played (3,469), tied for seventh in three-point field goals attempted (481) and tied for eighth in steals (173).

She also ranks first in school history in minutes played (1,189, 2011-12), tied for first in three-point field goals made (96, 2011-12), second in three-point field-goal percentage (44.2 percent, 96 of 217, 2011-12) and third in three-point field goals attempted (217, 2011-12) in a single season.

Linn

Linn, who graduated with a degree in accounting in fall 2010 and currently maintains a 3.770 GPA while working on a master’s degree in business administration, finished tied for eighth in the MAC with 56 triples in 2011-12. Linn made at least three treys a game on eight occasions this season and shot 35.4 percent (56 of 158) from beyond the arc.

For the season, Linn contributed 7.5 points, 4.1 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 0.7 steals in 28.7 minutes per game. She ranked ninth in the MAC in three-point field-goal percentage and tied for 10th in three-point field goals made (1.6).

She scored in double figures on 11 occasions this season, pouring in a collegiate-best 24 points at Central Michigan Feb. 15. The Madison, Wis., native drained 9 of 10 shots from the field against the Chippewas; that included a career-high six of seven from beyond the arc, tied for the seventh most triples in school history.

The 12-member team is the result of voting by the faculty athletic representatives from among a list of candidates with a minimum of sophomore status and a minimum 3.20 GPA and who have participated in at least 50 percent of the contests for that particular sport. First-year students and junior college transfers in their first year of residence are not eligible for the award.

The senior duo helped the Rockets finish the 2011-12 campaign with a 24-10 overall record and claim a share of a third consecutive MAC West Division crown with a 13-3 league ledger. UT also earned its third straight appearance in the Postseason WNIT, advancing to the Sweet 16.
