U.S. News announces rankings for graduate law and medical programs at a later date.

The rankings are based on two types of data: expert opinion about program excellence and statistical indicators that measure the quality of a school’s faculty, research and students.

“Graduate students have a number of factors to weigh when choosing where to engage in a particular type of research or advanced studies, and this ranking is further testament of why they should choose UToledo,” President Gregory Postel said. “We are proud of the strength of our graduate programs and of our talented faculty and staff as leaders in their fields who care deeply about the success of their students.”

The graduate programs ranking is the latest in a series of recognitions from U.S. News and World Report.

UToledo was recognized for the first time among the top universities in the country in the 2022-23 U.S. News and World Report Best Colleges rankings released in September. UToledo is ranked in the third tier at 285 out of a total of 440 national universities included in the most recent survey. The University is ranked among the Top Public Schools listed at 146 out of 227 institutions.

UToledo also made the 2022-23 U.S. News & World Report Best Global Universities list released in November, recognizing UToledo as one of only 280 U.S. schools ranked in the list that included more than 2,000 universities from more than 90 countries. The ranking focuses on institutions that prioritize academic research and scores are based on 13 indicators, such as global and regional research reputation, international collaboration and total citations.

Online bachelor’s programs at UToledo also were recognized in the U.S. News & World Report 2023 Best Online Programs released in January. UToledo is ranked 150 out of 381 total institutions listed.
