Lucas Will, a dual-major Spanish and economics sophomore, and Tanner Schultz, a sophomore biology student, were recently elected as UToledo Student Body president and vice president, respectively.
The University of Toledo Student Government is an organization of student leaders elected by their peers to represent the voice of all students throughout the University. Members of Student Government serve on various committees across the University to ensure that student voices are considered and that decisions are being made from a student-centered lens.

“The role of Student Body president and vice president is vitally important, as they serve as the elected voice of the undergraduate student body,” said Demond Pryor, the assistant dean for engagement and success. “Working closely with University administration, they ensure that the needs of their fellow students are being addressed.”
Will said that he and Schultz ran for the Student Government positions to serve as a voice for UToledo students.
“We love to utilize our loud and extroverted personalities to speak up for those who are not able to speak up for themselves,” he said. “We have built up relationships with administrators, the students and the past administrations for the past two years in order to be the best representatives for the students.
“We plan to be the connection between the students and administrators. Our balance of thoughtful tact and persistency will allow us to make quality change for the student body.”
Schultz added: “We decided that we wanted to run together after our first Senate meeting in the Fall of 2021. Ever since, we have built out platform of ‘ACT,’ which focuses on Accountability, Communication and Transparency. We hope to implement policies outside of this as well, such as continuing the push for a single ticket forgiveness program and working to change the hours and quality of our dining halls.”
