2 Rockets on Men’s Tennis Team Earn All-MAC Honors

Toledo men’s tennis student-athletes Hanamichi Carvajal and Poonthong Komolpisut earned postseason Mid-American Conference honors. Carvajal was named to the All-MAC First Team, while Komolpisut earned a nod to the All-MAC Second Team.

Carvajal recorded All-MAC honors for the second-straight season after being named to the All-MAC Second Team in 2024. The senior played between the No. 1 and No. 2 singles position and posted an overall 23-11 record, including a 5-5 mark in MAC play. Carvajal grabbed a straight-set victory on the No. 2 court against Big Ten opponent Indiana (Feb. 2) and won on the No. 1 court against Ball State on March 27.

Komolpisut was named to the All-MAC Second Team for the first time in his career. The sophomore owned an overall singles record of 22-12 and 4-5 in conference matches, primarily on the No. 1 court. Komolpisut clinched match point in two matches this season, both in three-set tiebreakers. The Bangkok, Thailand native earned the winning point over Cleveland State (Feb. 22) and UIC (March 20). Komolpisut also earned MAC Singles Player of the Week twice during the season.

Carvajal and Komolpisut teamed up in doubles play seven times, going 5-2 overall on the No. 1 court and earning MAC Doubles Team of the Week honors twice during the season. The duo earned wins against Buffalo, UIC and Northern Illinois.
