Freshmen Kiah Douglas and Devyn Ramsay have qualified for the 2010 USA Junior Track and Field Championships.

The championships for athletes younger than 20 will take place Wednesday through Sunday, June 23-27, at Drake Stadium in Des Moines, Iowa.

Douglas qualified in the long jump at 19-08.00 and is ranked second in the Mid-American Conference (MAC) in that event. Ramsay qualified in the 5000-meter run with her time of 17:39 and is ranked ninth in the MAC in that event.

“It is a great sign for our program’s future when we are signing athletes that are ranked as some of the top freshmen in the country,” Kevin Hadsell, UT head coach of track and field, said.

The duo, along with the rest of the Rockets, will first challenge for the MAC Championships, which will take place Thursday through Saturday, May 13-15, at the University at Buffalo.
