The interim title has been removed for Dan Barbee, who returned Nov. 8 to lead the University of Toledo Medical Center.
Named chief executive officer of UTMC effective May 1, Barbee is responsible for hospital operations for the academic medical center and associated programs and collaborating to advance UToledo Health and College of Medicine and Life Sciences regional strategies.

Barbee is a registered nurse with significant background in critical care and cardiac nursing. Prior to returning to UTMC as interim CEO, he served as president of rural market for Bon Secours Mercy Health and interim president of Mercy St. Anne Hospital.
Barbee previously led UTMC from 2016 to 2020. Prior to serving as CEO, he was UTMC’s vice president of clinical services and chief operating officer. He joined the medical center in 2011 as chief nursing officer and associate executive director.
