Repairs are scheduled for the Main Campus east and west parking garages, which will close for construction from mid-May to mid-August.

Additional information on exact closure dates will be available once contracts are finalized.

Both garages are scheduled to be open for fall semester beginning Monday, Aug. 25. Work in isolated areas may continue into September.

“The main scope of the work will be installing additional vertical structural supports to assist the existing columns,” said Doug Collins, director of grounds and off-site facilities. “Additionally, we will be installing supplemental horizontal reinforcement.”

Other repairs, such as floor patching and caulking replacement, will address maintenance issues that have arisen due to the difficult winter months.

“The emergency repairs that were completed during the academic year allowed for the parking garages to be reopened,” Collins said. “We are now working on repairs that will enable us to remove the remaining shoring in the east deck. We will continue with a maintenance stabilization project over the next two to three years.”
