Women’s Tennis Places 5 Student-Athletes on Academic All-MAC Squad

Toledo’s Cassie Alcala, Julia Kuszynski, Sanjana Tallamraju, Shalini Tallamraju and Sloane Teske were selected to the Academic All-MAC team, the Mid-American Conference office announced last week.

Teske is receiving the academic honor for the fourth time in her career, while Alcala, Kuszynski and Shalini Tallamraju are being honored for the third time. This is the first academic recognition for Sanjana Tallamraju.

With Alcala’s 100th career singles win, the Rockets claimed the program’s first conference tournament title and first berth into the NCAA Division I Women’s Tennis Championships.

The Academic All-MAC honor is for a student-athlete who has excelled in athletics and academics. To qualify, a student-athlete not in their first season of competition must have at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average and have participated in at least 50% of the contests for that particular sport.
