Women’s Track and Field Earns Five All-MAC Honors

UToledo women’s track and field team had five student-athletes earn postseason honors for the 2022 outdoor season, the Mid-American Conference announced Wednesday.

Junior Faith Linga and sophomore Lou Trois were named First-Team All-MAC, while seniors Semra Karaslan and Stephanie Sherman and freshman Margrett Watt earned Second-Team All-MAC honors.

Both Linga and Trois ran their way to first-place finishes in their respective events at the MAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships over the weekend in Kalamazoo, Mich. Linga took the medal in the 10,000m run at 33:57.02, while Trois crossed the line in the 1500m with a personal-best and third-best time in program history of 4:19.45.

All three of Toledo’s second-team honorees finished runners-up at their events at the MAC Championships.

Sherman’s time of 33:59.39 in the 10,000m run is the fourth-best time in Toledo history. Watt’s 2:08.27 time in the 800m was a PR and second-best all-time at Toledo. Karaslan ran a 10:19.20 in the 3000m steeplechase, and also had a third-place finish in the 1500m (4:24.13).
