The G. W. Hayes Jr. Build-a-Trust Bowl-a-Thon returns Saturday at All Strikes Lanes, 5133 Telegraph Rd. in Toledo.
The event is scheduled from noon to 3 p.m. Children and teens 17 and younger bowl for free. Those 18 and older pay $5 for three games, with shoe rental included.
The annual Build-a-Trust Bowl-a-Thon was recently renamed in memory of its founder, George W. Hayes Jr., a UToledo electrician for more than 30 years who retired in 2022 and died in November following a long battle with cancer.
Hayes started the Cops & Kids Build-a-Trust Bowl-a-Thon in 2015 to bring police and the community together. The event quickly grew to encompass the police and fire departments, and drawing community leaders each year for an afternoon of fun.
