This summer camp came as the last of seven sessions of high-dosage math and literacy tutoring supported through the grant, and the first to be held at UToledo’s Main Campus. Under the direction of faculty at the Judith Herb College of Education, UToledo students have over the past two years provided more than 4,300 hours of math or literacy tutoring to students at three TPS partner schools: Old Orchard Elementary School, Escuela SMART Academy and McKinley STEMM Academy.

Faculty and staff involved have been Drs. Rhonda Aguiton, Jason Cox, Lynne Hamer, Susanna Hapgood, Falynn Thompson, Michael Toland and William Weber, professor emeritus.

“It’s been a great team effort. The positive impacts for both the TPS and UToledo students have been tremendous,” said Hapgood, who is the principal investigator. “We hope to continue to be able provide this kind of experience going forward.”
