Camp Rockets
Children at the UToledo Early Learning Center enjoy a trip up the Maumee River on the Sandpiper as part of Camp Rockets. Distinguished University Lecturer Todd Crail leads an activity called “Macroinvertebrate Casserole” where they sort through plants and sediment to discover aquatic insect larvae, crayfish and mussels. The campers learned about the human benefits of these unsung ecological heroes and what challenges they face with regard to local water quality.
