According to Dr. Andre Aguillon, a sleep medicine specialist at The University of Toledo Medical Center, adults should be consistently getting seven hours of sleep every night.

However, getting good, quality sleep can be a nightly struggle for some.

In the newest episode of Prescribed Listening, Aguillon explains some of the most common sleep disorders and other barriers to sleep, and provides tips for how people can overcome those challenges and wake up feeling more rested.

Aguillon also discusses why he doesn’t recommend melatonin to help people fall asleep, the best way for adults to nap, how much sleep kids need and when to consider consulting a sleep specialist.

The episode is available now.

New episodes featuring UTMC experts answering other popular health questions will be released each Friday over the next several weeks.
